MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Brennan's Farm Road (Route 2034) near Den-Mar Gardens was closed to traffic for more than three hours Wednesday after a dump truck, which was pulling a piece of heavy equipment on a trailer, tipped over as it rounded a sharp curve.
According to Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush, the truck, driven by Justin Meisten, was headed east at 1:10 p.m. when the equipment shifted, causing the trailer to overturn. The driver was not injured, he added. The trailer and equipment are owned by Asplundh Inc.
A & F Automotive, Lavelle, was called to remove the trailer and equipment.
Beaverdale Fire Co., Mount Carmel and Kulpmont fire police, Shamokin Rescue 62, Shamokin Hazmat Unit 13 and County Squad 49 (Haz-mat unit), in addition to Northridge Hazmat of Northumberland County, were dispatched to the scene.
Approximately 90 gallons of a combined diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid was removed.
PennDOT was also called to repair deep gouges left in the road.
The road was closed from Route 61 at Kulpmont to Route 54 at the former Boylan's garage.
