St. John's UCC to sponsor fall music festival Sunday

SHAMOKIN - The first annual Fall Music Festival, sponsored by St. John's United Church of Christ, 117 N. Eighth St., will be held 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The outdoor event will take place on Grant Street, between Arch and Elm streets.

Dr. Robert Peiffer, pastor, will welcome guests with an opening prayer and special announcements. From 3 to 4 p.m., special contemporary religious music will be sung by the church's worship band. A special outdoor hymn sing will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Eugene Boughner and David Spotts will lead the hymn sing, which will feature favorite hymns requested by the audience. Other guests will offer special music. The hymns and special music will be accompanied by Vic Boris. Guests should bring lawn chairs, but special seating will be provided.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, coffee, tea and apple cider will be free of charge. Donations for Manna for Many food pantry will be accepted.

In addition, a community garden project can be viewed on the church grounds. All residents are welcome to attend. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the main sanctuary of the church. For more information, call the church office at 648-6101.
