SELINSGROVE - The public is invited to attend a panel discussion on hazing, "Rituals to Grow by or Violation of Dignity?" scheduled to be held from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in Isaac's Auditorium of Seibert Hall at Susquehanna University. The discussion will explore hazing rituals and the debate between traditions or violations.

The panel will gain perspectives from a range of professionals close to the subject matter.

Susquehanna University graduate and Greek life coordinator at Susquehanna University, Joe Thompson, will be one of the featured panelists and plans to discuss alternatives to hazing practices.

Joining him for the panel discussion are: Dr. Anthony Butto, a psychologist, who will address dynamics of power, differentials and bystander response; Thomas Rambo, assistant vice president for Student Life and director of Public Safety at Susquehanna University, who will discuss ways in which schools and communities can be aware and help to prevent negative incidents of hazing, and Peter Ellis, soccer coach with experience at the high school and collegiate levels, who will address preventative actions and the desire to 'fit in.'

Mark Lawrence, anchor and program director for WKOK of Sunbury Broadcasting Corporation, will moderate the panel discussion.

The event is co-sponsored by Susquehanna University and Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way. It's free and open to the public.
