SUNBURY - The 3rd annual Ta-Ta Trot, a 5K Run/Walk, will be held 8:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, during the Sunbury Celebration on North Fourth Street. The event will benefit the Geisinger Marie Lamey Fund and Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition.
More than 1,000 participants are expected. In 2011, 655 trotters raised $14,274.54 for breast health awareness.
LIVE Broadcast with Y106.5 starts at 7 a.m. Dr. Victor Vogel, director of Geisinger's Cancer Institute, and Dr. James Evans, Geisinger breast surgeon, will speak during the opening ceremonies, which kick-off at 8 a.m.
A donation of $25 for teens/adults and $10 for kids is required for participation. Socks are available for purchase for $7 and additional T-shirts are $12 if purchased before July 14.
Prizes will be awarded to first-, second- and third-place runners in each age and gender category. Team awards will be given for the most money raised, most trotters and best dressed. All participants will be eligible for various door prizes given by local businesses.
