RANSHAW - Mother Cabrini Church in Shamokin will hold its 17th annual parish picnic at the Ranshaw Civic Association grounds today, Saturday and Sunday.

The picnic will be held rain or shine from 5 to 10 p.m. today, 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday, and 2 to 10 p.m. Sunday. No outside food or beverages will be allowed on the picnic grounds. No pets will be allowed unless they are service animals and properly identified.

The picnic is one of the largest annual events of the parish and gives every member of Mother Cabrini Church an opportunity to gather and work together as a family and build community spirit.

The parish festivities began with a pre-picnic cottage cheese and potato pierogi sale held last week in the church social hall on Race Street, as well as the sale of church lottery calendars for June.

A bake sale will be held at Mother Cabrini Church Hall Saturday after the 4 p.m. Mass and Sunday after all Masses. After the Sunday morning Masses, everyone is invited to the church hall for complimentary coffee and donuts.

A variety of delicious homemade ethnic foods and specialities will be available including potato cakes, potato pierogies, Polish pigeons, hamburgers, halushki, sausage hoagies, funnel cakes, french fries, hot dogs, ice cream, sno-cones, pizza and more.

There will be plenty of refreshments for all ages and games for adults and children.

A raffle stand, a seasonal lottery tree and a prizes galore (theme basket) tent will be available.

Soundwave will provide music from 6 to 9 p.m. today, 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. The Shoreliners will perform from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
