MOUNT CARMEL - President Cindy Saukiatis opened the Jan. 20 meeting of the Carmelite 50-Plus Club, greeting the members and officers present. The group recited the Pledge of Allegiance, the Senior Adult Ministry Prayer and St. Mother Pauline Prayer, sang the "50-Plus" song, prayed for deceased members of the club and safety of the troops and sang a verse of "America." A special prayer was said for Gerry Palewicz, who was in the hospital, and for the victims of the shooting in Arizona.

After the meal, secretary Maria Kaminski read the minutes from the December meeting. No corrections or additions were needed and the minutes were approved and are on file. Al Visitainer gave the treasury report, which was approved for motion by Alma Zosh, seconded by Jenny Nolan, and will be available for audit. The club received a thank you note from the family of Mary Zenyuh.

Arlene Terry reported that this year, the Northern Region should be the sponsor for the Mass and banquet on Oct. 9. Help is expected from some of the other clubs and/or regions, but since the Paulinarians Club folded, there are only five clubs left in the Northern Region, she noted. Terry said a bus may be available for members to attend the Mass and banquet.

The winners of the 50/50 were Zosh and Nolan.

On a motion made by Zosh and seconded by Terry, the meeting was adjourned, and the members played bingo.
