Five people reportedly suffered minor injuries in three accidents that occurred within two hours of each other Saturday in three different townships.

Trooper Daniel J. Wilk of state police at Stonington reported the first crash occurred at 4:05 p.m. at the intersection of Routes 890 and 61 near Sunbury.

Wilk said Frances M. Buck, 62, of Trevorton, had her 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier stopped for a stop sign on Route 890 while attempting to gain access onto Route 61 northbound when a 2005 Toyota Corolla driven north on Route 890 by Raymond Lawrence, 74, of Sunbury, failed to yield and struck the rear of Buck's vehicle. Both cars sustained minor damage.

Buck and her passenger, Donald L. Bordner, 83, of Sunbury, suffered minor injuries and were transported to Sunbury Community Hospital. Lawrence and his passenger, Phyllis R. Lawrence, 74, of Sunbury, escaped injury.

Lawrence was cited for following a vehicle too closely.

Upper Augusta Township firefighters and emergency medical personnel assisted.

The second crash occurred at 5:10 p.m. near the intersection of Seven Points Road and Wolf's Cross Roads (Route 890) in Rockefeller Township.

Trooper Todd Leiby reported James M. Fisher, 30, of Sunbury, pulled his 2009 moped from the parking lot at United Lutheran Church in front of a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro driven west on Seven Points Road by Stacey T. Shrawder, 45, of Sunbury. The moped struck the Camaro nearly head-on. Police said a 2002 Ford Explorer operated by a 17-year-old female from Sunbury, who was following the Camaro, was unable to slow down in time and crashed into the rear of the car.

Fisher, a 7-year-old girl on his moped, and the 17-year-old girl suffered minor injuries.

Shrawder and a passenger in the Explorer, Nicholas McKinney, 18, of Sunbury, escaped injury.

Fisher will be cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended license, driving without registration and insurance, transporting a passenger when not properly licensed, failure to yield the right-of-way and failure to wear safety equipment.

The 17-year-old female also will be cited for following a vehicle too closely.

No one was injured in the third accident at 5:50 p.m. on Route 61 in Shamokin Township.

Wilk reported John R. Beecroft, 55, of Ranshaw, was driving a 1998 Buick LeSabre south in the right lane when the car exited the highway and crashed into a concrete barrier off the southbound shoulder before coming to rest approximately 50 yards from the point of impact with the barrier.

Beecroft was cited for failing to drive in a single lane.

Assisting at the scene were firefighters and emergency medical personnel from Elysburg, Stonington firefighters and Tire Ranch personnel.
