MOUNT CARMEL - Ideal weather contributed to the success of the 15th annual Oak Street Festival in downtown Mount Carmel Saturday.
"We had a better crowd than last year and I attribute that to the beautiful weather," commented Mount Carmel Mayor J. Kevin Jones. "The crowd was very steady from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the vendors did very well.."
Jones expressed his appreciation to all the patrons for supporting the community and the Mount Carmel Lions Club, which sponsors the festival and has served the area for 67 years.
The event, which ran from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., featured an aerobics demonstration, dog show, antique cars, numerous vendors, food and a variety of entertainment. The festival served as a kickoff to this year's 150th anniversary celebration in the borough.
