COAL TOWNSHIP - Students, faculty and staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School participated in the 10th annual American Life League's National Pro-Life T-shirt Day.

The participants wore pro-life T-shirts to class and joined thousands of pro-lifers across the country in silently speaking out against abortion. More than 3,500 babies are surgically aborted every day in America, and thousands more die by chemical abortions.

According to the American Life League, "The greatest way to reach change in this country is through our youth. We need a revolution of young people who will rise up against abortion. Unborn children have no voice. They are unable to cry out for help. The National T-shirt Day gives young people across America the chance to be the voice of these children."

Seventeen members of the Respect Life Club also participated in a Walk for Life to benefit the Pregnancy Care Center of Shamokin. The students walked from Lourdes to the Pregnancy Care Center, where they joined their voices in prayer for pro-life intentions. The group presented Margie Conrad, the director of the Pregnancy Care Center, with $1,490 which was raised through sponsors for the walk, contributions in religion classes and a dress-down day. Conrad spoke to students about pro-life issues and the various services provided by the center.

The group was under the supervision of religion teacher Joseph Litchko, guidance secretary Violette Feudale and Respect Life Club moderator Ann Mains.
