SUNBURY - Some commentators are predicting the presidential election in November will be a close one. So, the Northumberland County vote in the presidential primary could be a harbinger of things to come.
Barack Obama and Mitt Romney ended up the same number of votes - 3,180 - in the county in their respective primaries.
According to a final count of ballots cast in the April 24 primary, released by Alisha Herb, county director of elections, Romney tallied almost twice as many votes in the Republican primary as his nearest competitor, Rick Santorum.
