MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants who waived their cases or were held for court were ordered to appear for plea court May 21 at Northumberland County Courthouse in Sunbury, at which time they can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n Leah R. Sejuit, 25, of 239 W. Walnut St., Shamokin, waived to court a charge of false reports involving an incident that occurred April 13, 2011, at Ralpho Township Police Department.
Sejuit was charged by Ralpho Township Patrolman Chris Grow with falsely claiming her former father-in-law, Daniel Sejuit Sr., possessed a handgun and threatened to shoot her.
n Charges of illegally shooting and killing two white-tailed doe, hunting for doe with a shotgun out of season and hunting without a license filed against Stephen Shingara III, 27, of 1711 Sunshine Road, Shamokin, were dismissed.
Shingara was charged by Wildlife Conservation Officer Jason B. Kelley of the Pennsylvania Game Commission with illegally shooting and killing two white-tailed doe on Dec. 26, hunting for doe with a shotgun out of season and hunting without a license.
Kelley said the deer were shot on Didium Lane in West Cameron Township.
n Charles F. Kemper, 50, and Jessica L. Kemper, 41, both of 331 E. Third St., Mount Carmel, waived to court charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Joshua Pastucka.
Police reported the Kempers allegedly stole tires from a garage owned by Thomas Duran, of 745 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, on March 27.
n Lanika Cushon, 32, of 219 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to a summary offense of harassment and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year.
Charges of terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and a misdemeanor of harassment were withdrawn.
Cushon was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Brian Carnuccio in connection with a March 1 disturbance at Mount Carmel Area Elementary School.
Police reported Cushon cursed and screamed at school secretaries about wanting her son's bus stop changed and refused to calm down. She also allegedly threatened the secretaries by telling them she was going to have her son bring a gun to school.
n Brandon Michael Brown, 27, an inmate at SCI-Graterford, waived to court charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, failure to sign his name on the registration card for his vehicle, failure to provide police with a change of address within 15 days, driving under suspension, driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to drive in a single lane, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.
Police said the charges filed by Trooper Brian Ronk of state police at Stonington relate to a Nov. 27 one-vehicle crash on Route 2044 in East Cameron Township near the village of Doutyville.
n Lacy K. Anecki, 21, of 438 N. Market St., Elysburg, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to give police immediate notice of an accident, driving under suspension, careless driving and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
The charges filed by Ralpho Township Patrolman Christopher Grow relate to a Dec. 31 incident in the 100 block of North Market Street in Elysburg.
n Timothy E. Spencer, 45, of Delray, W.Va., pleaded guilty to public drunkenness and was ordered to pay a fine and costs totaling $454. An additional charge of disorderly conduct was withdrawn.
Spencer was charged by Ralpho Township Patrolman Chris Grow in connection with a Sept. 15 disturbance at the Wayside Inn in Weigh Scales.
n George P. Pellowski, 39, of 100 S. Tenth St., Kulpmont, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of careless driving involving a Dec. 16 incident at the Avenue and Poplar Street in Mount Carmel.
The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Patrolman Matthew Dillman.
