- Louis F. Trainer, 24, of 339 S. Orange St., Mount Carmel, waived all charges in three separate cases during his preliminary hearing Feb. 16 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, of Mount Carmel.

The first case waived was on charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and access device fraud, related to incidents from July 22 to 29, when Trainer allegedly took a credit card owned by Masser's Farm Market, and ran it through a credit card machine at Miller's Gas and Oil, where he was employed as an attendant, for four cash transactions, taking a total of $408.84. The charges were filed by Ralpho Township Police Patrolman Christopher Grow.

He also waived separate charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and retail theft. Mount Carmel Borough Police Patrolman William Adamski reported in court documents Trainer entered a Mount Carmel convenience store at 12:39 a.m. Jan. 1 and removed an electric heater and several food items before leaving the store.

The final set, also filed by Adamski, were charges of interference of the custody of children and corruption of minors, based on a Jan. 5 incident when Trainer allegedly tried to take a 13-year-old girl out of school for the day without the permission of the girl's mother. The teen then left school and spent the day with Trainer before leaving him after he made some inappropriate suggestions to her.

Trainer was ordered by Jones to appear for arraignment March 21 at the Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

- Charges of driving under the influence, driving on roadways laned for traffic and careless driving were waived to court by Michael P. Stoneroad, 28, of Paxinos RR 1, during his preliminary hearing Feb. 16 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Stoneroad was charged by Ralpho Township Police Patrolman Christopher Grow following a traffic stop at the intersection of Route 54 and Bear Gap Road on Aug. 29.

He was ordered by Jones to appear for arraignment March 21 at the Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

- Brian K. Ross, 25, of 815 W. Sixth St., Mount Carmel, waived the charges in two separate cases during his preliminary hearing Feb. 16 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones of Mount Carmel.

In the first case, he waived charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was charged by Sgt. Todd Owens of the Mount Carmel Police Department following an apprehension by him and the Pennsylvania Dpartment of Probation on April 5. A search of an apartment, where Ross was found, uncovered five bags of heroin, and various items of drug paraphernalia.

He also waived charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license, a license violation and failure to use general lighting requirements, based on a March 20 traffic stop in the area of Polar Street, Mount Carmel Township. Those charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman David J. Stamets Jr.

Ross was ordered by Jones to appear for arraignment March 21 at the Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
