ATLAS - The Mount Carmel Township Board of Supervisors has approved the position of environmental review certifying officer for the HOME Investment Partnership Programing.
The officer, a volunteer position that has yet to be filled, will "assume that all environmental, procedural and record requirements are fully and properly satisfied," according to a resolution approved at Wednesday night's monthly supervisors meeting.
The person will perform all function required, including consultations with all appropriate agencies directly concerned with environmental issues or having environmental responsibilities associated with the township's project and public comment process.
The township was awarded a $350,000 grant in January to fund homeowner housing rehabilitation services. The grant was approved by the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED), and will be administered through SEDA-Council of Governments.
In other business, the supervisors:
- Adopted an ordinance that allow all emergency service providers within the township to seek reimbursement for equipment, materials and supplies expended in responding to emergency incidents. Mutual aide could previously bill for services in the township, but the ordinance only allows companies within the township to recoup costs for equipment.
- Approved the annual allocation of $500 for the Joint Recreation Committee for the Midway Field.
