BEAR GAP - An Atlas man remained in serious condition Saturday night following a crash late Friday in which his SUV overturned along Route 54 north of here.

Robert Broadt, 41, was transported by Elysburg Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, following the 11:10 p.m. crash near Airport Road, Ralpho Township police reported.

Police said Broadt was driving a beige 2001 Ford Explorer east near All Saints Cemetery when he lost control of the vehicle. It went into the westbound lane, then back across the eastbound lane and onto the berm, where it hit a speed limit sign and a small embankment. The vehicle overturned and came to rest about 10 feet off the highway on the edge of a field.

Those at the scene said the driver may have been ejected, but police did not note that in their report.

A nursing supervisor at Geisinger reported Broadt was in serious condition Saturday night.

Traffic was reduced to one lane until the wrecked vehicle was removed by Tire Ranch towing service.

Also assisting were members of Elysburg and Ralpho fire companies, Mount Carmel Township police and state police.
