Sewer authority bills prison
WEIGH SCALES - Shamokin-Coal Township Joint Sewer Authority will bill a state prison $82,816 for sewage hookups at the expanded facility, according to the authority.
SCI/Coal Township has added 128 jail cells to the prison, with each cell representing one equivalent dwelling unit. The cost to connect each unit is $647.
New inmates have not been remanded to the expanded section, it was announced during Wednesday's authority meeting. Rather, the prison is shuffling current inmates into the expansion.
SCH medical command center
SUNBURY - The emergency room at Sunbury Community Hospital has been recertified by the state as a medical command center for the greater Sunbury area.
With recertification, the hospital's emergency room physicians are authorized to provide emergency patient care orders to personnel outside the hospital facility.
According to the state Department of Health, emergency medical service is a medical care system where emergency room physicians direct non-physician providers, usually paramedics, who perform patient care outside the hospital.
These non-physician providers must receive medical command authorization from the medical command physician before they provide advanced care.
All on-line command is provided through medical command facilities and supervised by a medical command facility director.
