MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants who waived their cases or were held for court were ordered to appear for plea court March 26 at Northumberland County Court, Sunbury, where they can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n Joseph Frank Temple, 47, of 132 Centre St., Ashland, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving, failure to drive in a single lane and careless driving relating to an April 9 incident on Route 2032 near the Choice Tobacco Store.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Daniel Politza.

n Thomas J. Viras, 31, of 404 E. Sixth St., Mount Carmel, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving a vehicle with sun screening, careless driving and failure to activate hazard lamps when stopped.

Trooper Barry Wooten of state police at Stonington filed the charges in connection with an Oct. 28 incident on Route 54 in Rush Township.

n Brian W. Wolfe, 29, of 837 Chestnut St., Apt. 3, Kulpmont, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered by Jones to pay a $500 fine plus costs.

Wolfe was charged by Kulpmont Patrolman Cade Holden in connection with a Jan. 9 incident at his apartment.
