SAHS seniors collecting blankets
COAL TOWNSHIP - Kirstyn Griffiths and Kim Bills, seniors at Shamokin Area High School, are collecting blankets for the elderly for their senior project.
Blankets can be dropped off at Shamokin-Coal Township Public Library on Independence Street, Shamokin, or at We Care Daycare in Salem UCC, 1300 W. Pine St.

DCNR offering rec grants
HARRISBURG - The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) is preparing to accept applications for Community Conservation Partnership Program (C2P2) grant funding, according to Sen. John R. Gordner (R-27). He is encouraging local governments and non-profit groups to take advantage of several upcoming grant workshops to maximize their chances of obtaining the highly competitive funding.
"Funding under C2P2 may be used to plan, acquire land, develop or rehabilitate recreational and conservation projects," said Gordner. In the past, projects of a regional nature have received favorable consideration, and Gordner encourages local entities to work together to forward regional projects.
The grant application period is open through April 4.
