COAL TOWNSHIP - Spangenberg's Family Drive-In, 640 Center St., Tharptown, is gearing up for its 44th season in business starting Thursday under new ownership. Bob and Jean Spangenberg will once again be running the family business after a decade of retirement. The Spangenberg's grandson, Tim Reuter, ran the drive-in for the past ten years, but has decided on a career change.

"I was really bored with retirement and I wanted to keep the business in the family," Bob Spangenberg said.

The drive-in will continue to be open 7 days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. They offer a wide variety of ice cream treats including Flavor Blasts, milkshakes, floats, sundaes and more than 30 flavors of soft serve ice cream.

They also have a full lunch and dinner menu including sandwiches, pizza, chicken, salads and specialty items.

For a minimum purchase, customers can also have your treats delivered free.

Spangenberg's will also feature a gift card give away on Sunday evenings with no purchase necessary. They will chance off five cards in the amounts of $50, $25, two $10 and $5. Just ask for a ticket. For more information, or to place an order call 648-0652.
