Primary only for R's, D's
SUNBURY - The Northumberland County Board of Elections has reminded voters that the April 24 primary election is for registered Democrats and Republicans only. Voters registered in those parties nominate candidates in their party to run in the general election. Members of other parties and registered independents cannot vote in Republican or Democratic primaries.
March 26 is the last day voters can change party or file a new registration in order to be able to vote in the April 24 primary.
FAFSA workshop planned
MOUNT CARMEL - The MCA TIES Career Center is hosting a workshop Tuesday, Feb. 28, in the Mount Carmel Area library computer lab to assist college-bound seniors and their families with completion of the Free Application For Student Assistance (FAFSA) form.
Registration for this workshop is required and the deadline is Feb. 15. Two sessions are available. Food and refreshments will be available and prizes will be awarded.
Prior to attending the work session, the student and one parent should apply for a pin number at www.pin.ed.gov. Attendees must bring the pin number and parents' completed 2011 IRS Tax Form, W-2s, any other income or benefit information.
