MCA collecting for heart association
MOUNT CARMEL - The Mount Carmel Area High School Interact Club is teaming up with the American Heart Association (AHA) in the fight against cardiovascular disease by collecting donations at the home boys basketball game tonight and at the girls game Saturday night.
Students will be collecting donations in the bleachers.
The mission of the AHA is to build healthier lives free of heart disease and stroke. Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 leading cause of death in the U.S., killing more people than all forms of cancer combined.
Donations still accepted
ELYSBURG - The Ralpho Township Business Association (RTBA) reminds those who were not able to attach a donation for Christmas tree removal that they can still mail a donation to RTBA, P.O. Box 218 Elysburg 17824. Donations are used toward the $500 annual scholarship grant awarded to a Ralpho Township high school senior who is continuing his or her education toward a degree in a business-related field.
The trees are picked up by volunteers as a community service. The number of trees is up while donations are down, and it's possible the service will be discontinued if donations don't match the effort, RTBA reported.
Township authority to meet Monday
WILBURTON - The Conyngham Township Authority will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Wilburton No. 1 Fire Company.
