Robbery charges

GORDON - Ian Mark Kaufman, 20, of 501 McKnight St., Gordon, and a 17-year-old male from Gordon have been charged by state police at Frackville with robbery, burglary, simple assault, criminal mischief, unlawful taking and criminal mischief relating to a robbery Friday morning at the residence of Sandra Wolfgang, 73, of 300 Elm St., Gordon.

Kaufman also was charged with criminal conspiracy.

At about 7:20 a.m., police were dispatched to a report of a robbery at Wolfgang's home, where they encountered the juvenile fleeing the residence. The teen was taken into custody without incident and charged as an adult due to the nature of the offenses.

Troopers located Kaufman on an adjacent street near the residence serving as a lookout. Kaufman then ran away, but was apprehended after a foot pursuit.

According to Wolfgang, the juvenile smashed her glass patio door and entered her home before going to her bedroom and brandishing a knife while demanding money or pain pills. Police said the victim gave the teen her medication.

Kaufman and the juvenile were arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge James Reilly and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Teen cited

MOUNT CARMEL - A 16-year-old Mount Carmel male has been cited by Patrolman Matt Dillman for unauthorized use of a vehicle relating to an incident that occurred at about 3 p.m. March 26 in which he took his father's all-terrain vehicle without his permission.

Runs over hose

MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Justin Stelma has cited Paul Glowacki, 29, of 221 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, for running over a fire hose involving a possible church fire at 45 E. Fourth St. at 2:35 p.m. Saturday, April 2.

Police said when firefighters began laying the hose at Fourth and Oak streets, a blue Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Glowacki ran over it.

The hose had to be given a pressure test to make sure there were no leaks in it.

Sprays extinguisher

MOUNT CARMEL - A 14-year-old Coal Township boy was cited by Patrolman Kevin Katch for disorderly conduct and harassment for spraying a fire extinguisher inside the Youth Services Agency, 32 W. Third St., Mount Carmel, and scratching the face and neck of an agency staff member.

Dog runs at large

SHAMOKIN - Susan Moore, 47, of 1440 Hemlock St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for allowing her two dogs to run at large on Race Street between Pearl and Franklin streets at 2:45 p.m. April 2.

Crash report issued

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here have released details involving a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 9 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Route 61 and the entrance to Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Patrolman Matthew Hashuga reported Ken Pawelczyk, of Shamokin, was driving a Toyota Tacoma truck south on Route 61 when a Chrysler Cirrus operated by Sean Beers, of Shamokin, turned left from Route 61 north in front of him, resulting in a collision.

Pawelczyk, Beers and two passengers in his car, Crystal Hogan and Sean Beers Jr., both of Coal Township, were treated at the scene by paramedics from AREA Services Ambulance.

Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Police said charges are pending in the accident, which remains under investigation.
