The new boundary lines for the 107th and 108th Pennsylvania House districts in the final legislative redistricting plan have been further modified from the plan that received preliminary approval from the Legislative Reapportionment Commission in early November.
Under the final plan approved Monday, the 107th district will pick up Shamokin Township, additional townships within the Line Mountain School District and two municipalities in Northumberland County's northern panhandle, while losing Danville in Montour County to the 108th District. District incumbents are Kurt Masser, R-107, and Lynda Schlegel Culver, R-108.
All of Northumberland County will remain in the 27th Senatorial District, which is now represented by Republican John Gordner. The 27th District will also retain all of Columbia and Montour County, while losing part of Snyder County. Gordner's district will shift slightly south and east, with the inclusion of some municipalities in Dauphin and Luzerne counties.
The 107th House District will include: In Northumberland County, the City of Shamokin, boroughs of Kulpmont, Marion Heights, Mount Carmel and Turboville, and townships of Coal, East Cameron, Jordan, Lewis, Little Mahanoy, Lower Mahanoy, Mount Carmel, Ralpho, Shamokin, Upper Mahanoy, Washington, West Cameron and Zerbe in Northumberland County; in Columbia County, Cleveland, Conyngham, Franklin and Locust townships, the part of Ashland in Columbia County and the borough of Centralia; and in Montour County, Anthony, Cooper, Derry, Liberty, Limestone, Mayberry, Valley and West Hemlock townships, District 01 of Mahoning Township and Washingtonville Borough. Total district population is 63,407.
The 108th House District will include: District 02 of Mahoning Township and Danville Borough in Montour County; Chapman, Monroe, Union and Washington townships and Freeburg and Shamokin Dam boroughs in Snyder County; and. in Northumberland County, the city of Sunbury, boroughs of Herndon, McEwensville, Milton, Northumberland, Riverside, Snydertown and Watsontown boroughs, and the townships of Delaware, East Chillisquaque, Jackson, Lower Augusta, Point, Rockefeller, Rush, Turbot, Upper Augusta and West Chillisquaque townships. Total district population is 64,149.
