SHAMOKIN DAM - Starting in March, the American Cancer Society will mark its 39th year with the Daffodil Days Campaign, one of its oldest and most popular fundraising programs aimed at eliminating cancer as a life-threatening disease. Volunteers are needed to help the program succeed.
Daffodil Days program consists of a three-month campaign starting in January and continuing into the week of the March 19-25 campaign. Dollars raised through Daffodil Days enables the Society to offer free programs and services that help people fight cancer with courage and optimism, including:
- Transportation assistance to and from treatments.
- Lodging for those having to travel for treatment.
- Online educational classes for people with cancer and their loved ones,
- Free and confidential assistance in helping locate cancer clinical trials based on individual needs.
- Physical, emotional, and financial assistance to ease the cancer experience.
- Additionally, Daffodil Days contributions provide the society with much-needed dollars to fund groundbreaking cancer research, educate people about the importance of cancer prevention and early detection, and advocate for meaningful public health policies that benefit everyone.
