'Off-the-wall' art sale Friday
SHAMOKIN - A first-ever "Off The Wall" holiday art sale is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Northumberland County Council for the Arts and Humanities' Fine Arts Gallery, inside the career and arts center, Eighth and Arch streets.
Patrons may purchase original artwork created by local artists right "off the wall." Artists and gallery committee members will be present to assist shoppers, and light refreshments will be provided.
The sale is Friday only, but the artwork is currently on display. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.
Model railroad open to public
SHAMOKIN - The Lower Anthracite Model Railroad Club display, 210 E. Independence St., above public library, is open to the public from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Friday, Saturday, Dec. 16 and 23. It is also open from 3 to 9 p.m. Dec. 17 and 26. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. Routes of Pennsylvania, Reading and Lehigh Valley railroads are featured on the display that closely emulates Northumberland County in the mid-20th Century. It is the largest HO scale model railroad in central Pennsylvania. Not handicap accessible.
