Latest in a series of model railroad cars offered by chamber

SHAMOKIN - Orders are now being accepted for the latest addition to the set of model railroad cars offered by the Brush Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The cars, which feature designs of area railroad station replicas, are made by Weaver Models, Northumberland. The latest edition features the Pennsylvania-Lehigh Valley Depot in Mount Carmel, which was located under the Viaduct. The car, like others in the series, is O-gauge, the latest a three-bay offset painted Tuscan red with the station drawing and lettering in white.

This car marks the seventh in the series, which also features the Centralia Train Station, Mount Carmel Junction Train Station, Excelsior Train Station, Mount Carmel Train Station, the Philadelphia and Reading Station in Shamokin and the Locust Gap Train Station.

Pictures of the former cars can be seen at www.weavermodels.com. Click on the Custom Run Car tab and scroll to the chamber. The organization has a small supply of each of the previous cars, and they are available for purchase on eBay.

Cost is $40 for the new car, the Shamokin and Locust Gap cars and $35 each for the Centralia, Mount Carmel Junction, Excelsior and Mount Carmel cars. Also, the first six cars can be purchased as a set for $150.

Orders with payment can be sent to the chamber at 2 E. Arch St., Suite 313A, Shamokin 17872. Learn more at www.brushvalleychamber.com or call chamber director Sandy Winhofer at 648-4675 or e-mail her at swinhofer@censop.com.
