The United States Achievement Academy (USAA) announced that Amalia Hinkle, Locust Gap, has been recognized for academic achievement as a United States National Honor Student Award winner.

Hinkle, who attends Mount Carmel Area Junior-Senior High School, will appear in the USAA's Official Yearbook, which is published nationally.

"Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important that ever before in America's history. Certainly, USAA winners should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement," said Dr. George Stevens, founder of the USAA.

Hinkle is the daughter of Mary Hinkle of Locust Gap and the late Jonathan Hinkle. Her grandparents are Francine Morrison of Mount Carmel, John W. Minnig, of Locust Gap and Bernice Hinkle of Frackville, and the late Bruce Hinkle.
