MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh A. Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court on Jan. 6, 2012, in Northumberland County Court, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
n Jeffrey T. Tripp, 25, of 943 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, waived charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property in his preliminary hearing.
He was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush for the theft of a laptop computer owned by Jasmine Iddings, of Locust Gap, on July 29.
n Two counts of resisting arrest and charges of obstructing the administration of the law, criminal mischief and public drunkenness were waived to court by Gloria Holmes, 42, of 101 W. Girard St., Mount Carmel, during her preliminary hearing.
Holmes was charged by Patrolman Daniel Politza of the Mount Carmel Township Police after a disturbance Sunday at the Atlas American Legion when Holmes was fighting with her husband after driving home after she had too much to drink. Officers checked both individuals for active warrants and was taking the husband into custody when Holmes began to create a scene, prompting officers to arrest her. Holmes allegedly also attempted to kick out the windows of police cruisers and then continued to act out in the township's police holding cell.
n Daniel J. Renn, 30, of 431 E. Avenue, Mount Carmel, waived to court a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia during his preliminary hearing.
Renn was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Police officer David Donkochik following a Sept. 28 home visit to his residence involving Northumberland County Adult Probation Officers.
n Kersten M. Reichenbach, 21, of 726 Cameron St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to a citation of harassment during her hearing and was ordered to pay fine and court courts totalling $528.55.
She was charged by Kulpmont Police Patrolman Michael Pitcavage following an Aug. 9 incident when Reichenbach allegedly threatened Samantha Purcell, of Kulpmont.
Misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats and harassment were withdrawn in the case.
n A charge of endangering the welfare of a child was waived to court by Barbara J. Hall, 23, of 32 E. Cherry St., Mount Carmel, during her preliminary hearing.
The charge was filed by Officer David Donkochik of the Mount Carmel Borough Police after a Oct. 19 incident involving Hall's two-year-old daughter while they were at an East Avenue home.
n Logan M. Hoffman, 21, of 404 S. Main St., Muncy, waived charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia during his preliminary hearing.
Hoffman was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman David Stamets Jr. following a traffic stop on Route 54, Natalie, on May 1, and was found with seven bags of mushrooms inside the vehicle.
n Two counts of driving under the influence of a drug or combination of drugs, and charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, recklessly endangering another person, careless driving and reckless driving were waived to court by Irvin F. Snyder, 54, of 5 Madison Ave., Elysburg, during his preliminary hearing.
The charges, filed by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Matthew Filarski, stemmed from a accident on Colonial Avenue, Natalie on Aug. 2.
n Jamie L. Sweigart, 21, of 19 Wingert Road, Wyomissing, waived charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct, possession of a small amount of marijuana and harassment during her hearing.
She was charged by Patrolman Chris Dailey of the Ralpho Township Police department following an incident at the Glosser Motor Inn on July 23.
n Two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, and one count each of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance, operating a vehicle with alcohol in his system while being a minor, careless driving and underage drinking were waived to court by Gregory J. Morgan, 20 of 328 S. Liberty St., Orwigsburg.
Morgan was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Daniel Politza following a traffic stop on Route 54 near the Strong Connector on June 13.
n A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia against Marcie A. Howerter, 30, of 338 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, was ordered bound to court following her preliminary hearing.
Howerter was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Police officer David Donkochik following an Sept. 28 home visit to his residence involving Northumberland County Adult Probation Officers.
