MOUNT CARMEL - The election for Mount Carmel Borough Council favored two incumbents and one newcomer in the general election Tuesday.

Incumbents Leroy "Chico" Moser, 59, and Joseph Lapotsky, 59, and newcomer Edward Ososkie, 56, the top three, will begin their terms on council early next year.

Moser, who goes on to his fourth term, was the top vote-getter with 768 votes, followed by Lapotsky with 603, Ososkie with 559, incumbent Gary Hixson Jr. with 497 and Scott Bolick with 441.

Moser, Lapotsky and Hixson won the May primary on the Democratic and Republican nominations through write-in votes. Independent candidates Bolick and Ososkie entered the race after the primary.

Lapotsky was appointed to borough council in June after Councilman Ronald Tanney resigned, and he was also chosen by voters in May to be on both the Democratic and Republican nominations on election day.

Bolick and Ososkie ran together as a team. Both are volunteer firemen with American Hose and Chemical Fire Company.
