TREVORTON - Despite two cancellations, Kandie Rebuck was pleased with the attendance at the Trevorton Halloween Parade and Fall Festival Sunday afternoon.
"It's a good turnout for having to postpone it. I'm thankful for everyone who came out," Rebuck, the event organizer, said, following the parade, which ended at the Foundry.
The parade formed at the VFW and began moving at 1 p.m. There were 40 registered participants dressed up as everything from the Scooby Doo Mystery Gang to Alice in Wonderland characters as well as animals of all shapes and sizes. In addition to eight floats, Skip Rabuck also coordinated approximately 40 vehicles to accompany the parade as part of a car cruise.
Following the parade, the events continued at the Foundry, where there were 14 stands of food, games and crafts. Rebuck said several vendors had to cancel.
The haunted hayride was also canceled because Rebuck didn't want the festival run too late and interfere with sleep schedules for work and school today.
Compared to last year's festival, attendance was a little bit less, Rebuck said, but she hopes next year will pick back up if the weather stays pleasant.
Rebuck was assisted by township supervisors Mike Mazer and Mike Swartz.
"It's a great turnout. We're hopeful for more participation in the years to come," Mazer said.
Mazer noted it was nice to see people like Rebuck step up and involve themselves in the community. Rebuck said she is planning on organizing another event in the spring. The next township event will be held during the Christmas season.
