SUNBURY - Someone was seriously injured during an incident Friday night in Sunbury, but police were very vague on Saturday about details.
An unnamed victim of an "alleged serious assault" was transported by Life Flight to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, shortly before midnight Friday, according to a press release from Sunbury Police Department.
Police said the incident may have involved a weapon and occurred at 500 1/2 Arch St.
A report over the police scanner indicated the victim had wounds to his head and abdomen.
Multiple people were interviewed as part of the investigation, and one person was charged with aggravated assault and committed to Northumberland County Prison, said police. They did not provide a name.
Police officers from Northumberland, Point Township and Shamokin Dam and state troopers from the Stonington police barracks, who provided forensics, responded to the scene.
Northumberland County District Attorney's office, Sunbury Fire Department and Sunbury Fire Police also provided services.
The victim was originally transported to Sunbury Community Hospital, but then taken to the Danville hospital.
The investigation is continuing, police said.
Attempts to reach police Saturday for more information were unsuccessful.
