MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court Jan. 6, 2012, in Northumberland County Court, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n Joseph W. Picklo, 50, of Shenandoah, waived to court charges of being a habitual offender of driving under suspension, driving under suspension, driving without proper registration, driving without proper inspection and driving without insurance relating to an Aug. 8 vehicle stop along Route 901 near Locust Summit Motors.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell.

n Tiffany P. Zarko, 19, of 21 N. Locust St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to harassment and was ordered to pay a fine and costs totaling $353. Additional charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct were withdrawn.

Zarko was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Daniel Politza with assaulting Alyssa Andruscavage at 25 Sport Lane, Locust Gap, on July 31.

n William B. Stewart, 21, of 332 E. Melrose St., Marion Heights, waived to court charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia involving an Aug. 25 incident at his residence.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Matthew Filarski.

n A bad check charge filed by Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush against Jeffrey T. Tripp, 25, of 943 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was withdrawn after Tripp made $295.72 restitution to the victim.

Tripp was charged with issuing a bad check to Jasmine Iddings for car repairs on July 26.

n Keith A. Trievel, 36, of Reinholds, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without proper registration, driving without insurance, a stop sign violation, careless driving, driving without proper inspection, operating an all-terrain vehicle on a public street or highway and failure to yield the right-of-way to an emergency vehicle.

The charges were filed by Trooper James McCormick of state police at Stonington in connection with a July 2 incident at the intersection of Routes 2044 and 125 in East Cameron Township.

n Stephen Niglio, 27, of 214 W. Girard St., Mount Carmel, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with an obstructed windshield relating to a Sept. 6 incident in the 300 block of West Girard Street in Atlas.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Patrolman Kelly Campbell.

n Jeffrey T. Kaufman, 22, of 214 S. Oak St., Apt. 3, waived to court charges of theft, criminal conspiracy, receiving stolen property, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct.

Kauffman was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush with stealing 17 steel storm grates from Atlas, Snake Road and Bottle Road on Oct. 24 and then selling the grates for scrap at Stoneroad Iron and Metal, Paxinos.

n Peter A. Plum III, 42, of 143 E. Avenue, Mount Carmel, and Tyler M. Wondoloski, 18, of 802 W. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, waived to court one count of corruption of minors and two counts of illegal use of solvents relating to a Sept. 29 incident at Third and Market streets. Wondoloski also waived to court a retail theft charge relating to the same incident.

The defendants were charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman David Donkochik with huffing dust remover and passing it to teenagers as a group of children played nearby.

n Peter L. Gorney, 26, of 317 E. Water St., Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to selling or furnishing liquor to minors and was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine plus costs and placed on probation for six months. An additional charge of corruption of minors was withdrawn.

Gorney was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman William Adamski with providing beer to a minor at Seventh and Oak streets on Oct. 1.
