SHAMOKIN - A Chinese Raffle will be held at noon Saturday in the Mother Cabrini Church basement.
Organized by Rose M. Fairweather, all proceeds will benefit the Shamokin Area Community Hospital (SACH). Over 150 items will be awarded and consist of pieces from Longaberger, Vera Bradley, Temp-tations Ovenware, Brighton Jewelry, Sachi, Waltham watches, Lisa Sophia, Lock N Locks and much more.
According to JoAnn Sassani, raffle committee member, the event was brought back due to popular demand. "Last year we decided to change things up and have a different event other than a bingo," said Sassani. "Many of the prizes are actually more than one prize, meaning it's a combination of items so even if you win once, you will have recouped your admission ticket."
Some of the items include (from Vera Bradley) purses, totes, lunch bags, wristlets, and travel bags. Both bangle and bracelet watches from Waltham Watches will be available. Longaberger totes, purses and baskets, and Brighton bangle bracelets and charm necklaces are up for grabs.
"Our prizes are very elegant and worth a great deal more than the cost of admission, so we feel that this is a wonderful opportunity for our community to join us for some fun and fabulous prizes," added Sassani.
The purchase of two cards totaling 50 drop tickets for $20 covers the admission cost. Additional cards (each card holds 25 drop tickets) may be purchased for $8. A concession stand will be available for those in attendance.
In addition to the main attraction, four theme baskets will also be chanced off aside from the raffle. These chances must be purchased separately. Each is valued at more than $400 and contain multiple items.
