COAL TOWNSHIP - Jason M. Long, 35, of Coal Township, passed away tragically Thursday, March 31, 2011.
Born May 19, 1975, he was a son of Cindy and Tony Poboy and the late Gordon Long.
He was a 1993 graduate of Shamokin Area High School where he excelled in football and track and field. He attended Wilkes University and Luzerne County Community College, where he received an associate degree in sociology.
He was married Oct. 9, 2004, to the former Danielle (Slovick) Olah, who survives with their son, Joey Olah.
Jason was employed at Superior Plus Energy Services.
He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Church.
Jason enjoyed spending time with his family, swimming in their pool and vacationing at the Outer Banks, N.C. He enjoyed sharing his love of food by preparing amazing meals for his family and friends. He loved children and making them smile. There wasn't a child that wasn't drawn to his warm heart. He enjoyed watching his favorite teams with his wife and son, Michigan University, Pittsburg Steelers, Philadelphia Phillies and Flyers. He also loved coaching and playing baseball and basketball with Joey.
He was a loving father, husband, son, brother, uncle and friend, but, to his wife, he was the one who made her whole.
In addition to his wife, son and parents, he is survived by a father-in-law, Ron Slovick and wife, Mary; a mother-in-law, Ann Kilbourn; a sister, Jana Horn and husband, John; a brother, Gordon Long Jr. and wife, Mechelle; three sisters-in-law, Rhonda Gray and husband, Carl, Elizabeth Slovick and Jessica Slovick and fiance, Chris Dillon; a brother-in-law, Ron Slovick and wife, Deanna; several nieces and nephews that he cherished and aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Bill and Marian Sarge and Sparky and Olive Long, and an uncle, Bill Sarge Jr.

LONG - Jason M. Long, 35, of Coal Township. The family will be holding a private Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by the Rev. Adrian Gallagher, O.F.M., Conv., at Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township. Interment will also be private in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Coal Township. Arrangements are entrusted to James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township.
