LEWISBURG - U.S. Rep. Tom Marino, R-10, will hold the first of a series of 10th District veterans forums at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Lewisburg Armory, 4700 Westbranch Highway, it was announced by district Director David Weber.

The event has been organized in support of veterans in Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties, though it is open to all veterans in the 10th Congressional District.

Marino will attend the hour-long session that will feature a question-answer format.

"It is my honor to be able to meet with veterans and to listen to their concerns and provide them with information," Marino said. "I attended a forum in another county recently and was surprised to learn that many veterans are unaware of all the programs that are available to them."

Marino said he will hold a veterans forum in the other counties within his district.

"We owe it to these men and women who so selflessly defended our nation throughout the years," Marino said. "I have learned that many veterans do not belong to veterans organizations and have no way of keeping up with all of the changes that are being made as far as benefits and what they are and are not entitled to. I want to bridge that gap and reach out to veterans in all parts of the district on a regular basis."

Information on federal, state and county veterans services will be provided. Representatives of state legislative offices and county veterans directors have been invited.

Michael Knouse, veterans liaison for the congressman, is organizing the event. For more information, call 988-7801.
