'God's Chuckwagon' to offer soup

SHAMOKIN - James Bowers, pastor of Ministry of the Water and Spirit Church, 324 E. Sunbury St., has announced the church will hold "God's Chuckwagon," a distribution of homemade hot soup to those in need, in front of the W.I.C. office, 10 E. Independence St., from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday.

Cavalcade results posted

SHAMOKIN - Shamokin Area High School Band Director Kevin Styer reported the results of the 45th annual Black Diamond Cavalcade, which took place Oct. 8 at Kemp Memorial Stadium.

In Group 1 Open class, first place went to Loyalsock Township High School with a score of 80.40.

In Group 2 A Class, first place went to North Schuylkill High School with a score of 78.50. In Group 2 Open Class, third place went to Milton Area High School with a score of 81.20, second place went to Shikellamy High School with a score of 85.15 and first place went to Donegal High School with a score of 87.20.

In Group 3 A Class, first place went to Mifflin County High School with a score of 82.40. In Group 3 Open Class, first place went to Berwick Area High School with a score of 82.70. In Group 3 Festival Class, Millersburg Area High School won.

The Shamokin Area Competition Band received a score of 81.50 for their Group 2 Class A Exhibition.
