ATLAS - The Atlas Fire Company ladies auxiliary will host a "Trunk or Treat" on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 29, to raise money for the annual Christmas party for the children of Mount Carmel Township.
The event is a new idea to make trick-or-treating in Atlas safer and more fun for the children. Atlas residents who would like to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters are invited to come to the basketball court by the fire company. The children will enjoy games with prizes, pumpkin painting and a free gift from the ladies auxiliary.
As part of this event, residents of the township and families of Atlas Fire Company members are invited to sign up for a pumpkin patch decorating contest. There will be five-by-five plots roped off in the fire company park for teams to decorate any way they would like. Teams should have one adult responsible for overseeing the project and up to three children ages 4 to 12. Sign up by Oct. 15 and decorate your spot by Oct. 24.
Patches will be judged by the firefighters and first, second and third place awards will be presented at the Trunk or Treat event to the winners.
