Public welcome to club meeting

SHAMOKIN - The Cecilian Club will begin its 106th season with a meeting open to the public at 7 p.m. Monday. Due to recent flooding problems, the location has been changed from Clark's Grove United Methodist Church to the First United Methodist Church, Ninth and Sunbury streets, Shamokin.

The theme for the evening's program is "Am I Blue?" The meeting will be followed by a tea.

Culver announces October hours

SUNBURY - State Rep. Lynda Culver Schlegel, R-108, has scheduled three visits to areas within her legislative district to be held from 9 to 11 a.m. this month:

· Friday, West Chillisquaque Township, 485 Railroad St., Montandon.

· Tuesday, Lower Augusta Township, 609 Hallowing Run Road, Sunbury.

· Oct. 27, Shamokin Dam, 210 W. Eighth Ave., Shamokin Dam.

"These traveling office hours are designed to meet with residents who aren't able to make it to my Arch Street district office and is a way for me to be active in our community," Culver said in a press release. "I encourage anyone who has any type of state government-related issue to stop by and see me."

This visiting office is part of an ongoing effort by Culver to bring constituent services to various portions of the 108th District in Northumberland and Snyder counties.

PCN to air candidate interviews

CAMP HILL - Pennsylvania Cable Network's Election 2011 coverage will include the broadcast of one-on-one interviews with state judicial candidates.

The tentative air schedule is:

· Monday: Vic Stabile, Republican for Superior Court

· Tuesday: David Wecht, Democrat for Superior Court

· Oct. 17: Kathyrn Boockvar, Democrat for Commonwealth Court

· Oct. 18: Anne Covey, Republican for Commonwealth Court

All programs begin at 8 p.m.

Lipid profile screening slated

MOUNT CARMEL - Saint Catherine Medical Center Fountain Springs and Dr. Luciene Borowik will host a free lipid profile screening from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Dr. Borowik's office, 50 N. Maple St.

The laboratory team at Saint Catherine Medical Center will provide the free non-fasting lipid screenings. Following the screening, Dr. Borowik will present an educational discussion on monitoring and controlling high cholesterol from 10 to 10:30 a.m.

The screening and program are free, but appointments are required. Call 875-6950 by Oct. 24.
