Drive to Keep Memories Alive
SHAMOKIN - Skip Rabuck announced plans have been finalized for today's "Drive to Keep the Memories Alive," which will be held in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Rabuck said the drive will start forming today at 1 p.m. at Rock and Independence streets in Shamokin. The caravan will leave Shamokin at 2:30 p.m., traveling on Route 61 to Mount Carmel. Upon arrival in Mount Carmel, vehicles will be parked on Oak Street.
Rabuck said organizers of the drive are looking for participation by street rods, muscle cars, antiques, Corvettes, classics, specialty vehicles, four-wheel drives, all types of trucks and motorcycles. Rabuck added that organizers also welcome participation by first responders, including ambulances, fire trucks, police, fire police, state police, sheriff's departments and tow trucks.
"This will be a day to remember those who lost their lives on Sept. 11," Rabuck said. "Mount Carmel, Clover Hose Company and Bing Cimino deserve credit for putting together this great tribute."
