MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police are investigating a burglary that occurred 2:23 a.m. Tuesday at Varano's Warehouse, Seventh and Oak streets.
An employee noticed the front door to the store portion of the food warehouse was busted when he arrived for work around 6 a.m. Lt. Christopher Buhay said two men, both with hoods pulled up over their heads, forced open the door.
A black and white security video Buhay provided shows two men approaching the door and entering after what appeared to be one or two kicks. They disappear from view for about 30 seconds before they reappear and are shown running away from the scene. Buhay said an unknown amount of cash was stolen.
One man was wearing bright shoes (possibly white), jeans, a solid-colored hoodie and a bandana over his face. He was holding an object resembling a pipe. The other male was wearing dark shoes (possibly black), dark-colored jeans and a hoodie with a random stripe pattern.
