KULPMONT - Final preparations have been made for the Holy Angels Parish Picnic, which will be held Friday and Saturday.
Picnic Chairmen Dave Shinskie and the Rev. Andrew Stahmer said the picnic will run from 5 p,m. to midnight Friday and 4 p.m. to midnight Saturday. Entertainment will be provided both evenings by the Keystone Kids StarMakers from 6 to 7 p.m. and by The Shoreliners from 7 to 11 p.m.
A fireworks display will occur Saturday at 10 p.m.
This year's menu includes porkette, Italian and Polish sausages, torpedoes, hamburgers, hot dogs, pierogies, haluski, french fries, funnel cakes, filled cabbage, pasta fazoli, pizza, corn on the cob, ice cream, fresh fruit cups, slushies, rice pudding and more items.
The parish Holy Name Society will prepare more than 350 gallons of batter for potato cakes. Chairmen John Buggy and Jerry Buchinski credit the work of the committee that produces the essential product that keeps the people coming back.
There will be a bake sale and bingo in the activity center. Cindy and Dennis Klock have collected many treasured items that were donated and are organizing a yard sale in the church basement. A total of $3,000 will be awarded to lucky winners of the money raffle Saturday evening.
Children will be entertained with games, face painting, a fishing contest and other activities.
Jill and Sherry Bozza will prepare more than 100 theme baskets for The Basket Bonanza, with each basket valued at $50 or more. Special prizes will include a kayak, gas grill, bicycles, flat screen TV, money and lottery ticket trees and a Blessed Mother grotto ornament. The committee extended appreciation to parishioners and friends for the many donations, especially for supplying baskets, and also thanked area businesses and individuals who donate to this picnic. All basket winners will be announced following the fireworks display.
Stahmer and the picnic committee ask that picnic goers observe the no pet/no cooler policy and acknowledged all volunteers and supporters who worked so hard to make this annual event a success.
