PAXINOS - Dan Orlando, a singer-songwriter with ties to Centralia, will return to Masser's Banquet Hall for a concert with the Band of Hopefuls on Sunday.
Orlando, a son of Dan and Maureen Kane, has a varied background in music and theater. As a student at Avon Grove High School in Chester County, he was the featured star in productions of "The Music Man," "Lil' Abner," "West Side Story" and "My Fair Lady." His piano and keyboard skills were honed by former Tommy Dorsey sideman Stewart Armstrong.
Orlando began performing in 2007 and in August of that year released his inaugural CD, "Stepping Stones." Songs include "The Stars of Nags Head," "Never Needed You More" and "The Melody of the Tenacious." All 10 songs were written, arranged and vocalized by Orlando.
His talent earned him a scholarship to the prestigious University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music,
Recently, Orlando on piano; Band of Hopefuls, Bernardo Lopes on tenor and soprano sax, clarinet, keyboard and percussion; Zach Stehura on drums; Nathaniel Andrew on bass guitar, and Benjamin Thomas on tambourine and guitar, recently signed with Circulus Records, and their first EP, "Dan Orlando and the Band of Hopefuls," will soon be released. Also appearing at the Masser's show will be Bryel Frasch, 2011 Schuylkill County Junior Idol winner.
