MOUNT CARMEL - Theater fans are urged to mark their calendar for Aug. 19 to 21 when the Anthracite Citizens Theatre presents "Annie" at Mount Carmel Area Junior-Senior High School Auditorium.
As theatergoers watch the show, they will encounter Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks, the billionaire who adopts Annie. Warbucks is played by Tom Pat Noonan, of Gordon. With his shaved head, tenor voice and big personality, the audience will feel an immediate connection to him.
His vocal randition of "Why Change a Thing?" will bring down the house. Noonan has had previoius lead roles in ACTs "Jeckyl and Hyde" and "Godspell." Noonan works at Schuylkill County PennDOT and is the proud father of three.
In addition, audience members will be awed by the acting ability of Erica Sechler, who plays Warbucks's personal assistant, Grace Farrell. She is sassy, humorous and cuts to the chase in dealing with the nasty Miss Hannigan, head of the Hudson Street Home for Girls. Although this is Erica's first acting role, her job as elementary music teacher has provided exposure to the theater arena. Sechler is originally from Williamsport, but currently resides in Kulpmont with her cat, Lincoln.
Tickets are $10 for each performance, except for the Sunday afternoon show, when tickets are $8 for children 12 and under. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, and Saturday, Aug. 20, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21. Tickets are available at the Mount Carmel and Shamokin/Coal Township public libraries, Community Pharmacy in Mount Carmel or through any cast member.
