BLOOMSBURG - The Rev. Tim Marcoe, new priest of Bloomsburg University's Catholic Campus Ministry, plans to bridge the gap between the church and student life on campus through spiritual and social activities, according to a press release from the university.
Marcoe earned his bachelor's degree in meteorology from Millersville University in 2001. He studied for the priesthood at St. Vincent Seminary, Latrobe, and was ordained at St. Patrick Cathedral, Harrisburg. He completed his first pastoral assignment at St. Joseph Parish, Hanover.
Born in Allentown, he is the oldest son of David and Debra Marcoe and has two younger siblings. Marcoe said his "walk with God" wasn't his initial career goal. Introduced to Catholicism during his undergraduate studies, he found his calling through his role as president of the student leadership team in the Catholic Campus Ministry at Millersville.
Before coming to Bloomsburg, Marcoe was chaplain of York Catholic High School and led the congregation of Christ the King, Benton.
He said he's excited about the opportunity to make BU a comfortable environment for students to worship.
"Listening is important when ministering to people," Marcoe was quoted by the university. "God has shown me through my experiences how to build a comfortable space for people to worship."
Catholic Campus Ministry, in the Newman House on College Hill, 353 E. Second St., is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
