Amy Cortellini, daughter of Mary Cortellini, Mount Carmel, and the late Vincent E. Cortellini, graduated magna cum laude on Dec. 18 from Bloomsburg University with a grade-point average of 3.82. Cortellini earned her Bachelor of Science degree in biology while raising her son, Brayden. During her academic career, she earned dean's list status.
Cortellini has been accepted as a medical student into Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine at Seton Hill (LECOM Seton Hill), Greensburg. She will participate in the small-group Problem-Based Learning Pathway (PBL) which emphasizes self-directed learning.
Cortellini is a 2004 graduate of Mount Carmel Area Junior Senior High School. She is a granddaughter of Julie Tomol, of Mount Carmel, and the late George Tomol, and the late Judy and Elmer Cortellini, who lived in Ridley Park.
