Meeting schedule for SEHSC
NORTHUMBERLAND - The Susquehanna Emergency Health Services Council (SEHSC), a not-for-profit corporation serving as the regional emergency medical services council for the counties of Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties, has released its meeting schedule for the 2011-2012 fiscal year.
Meetings will be held on Sept. 20, and Jan. 24 and April 24, 2012. All board of directors meeting will be held at 5 p.m. and full council meetings will be held at 7 p.m. All meetings will be held at the SEHSC Offices, 265 Point Township Drive, Northumberland. Sunbury to celebrate 'Night Out'
SUNBURY - The Sunbury Police Department will celebrate the 28th National Night Out from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Cameron Park, Market and Second streets.
This year's National Night Out theme is "Give crime and drugs a going away party."
Connie Beegle, Sunbury Crime Watch president, has supervised the planning of the community event.
Among the dignitaries expected to attend are Sunbury Mayor David L. Persing, state Rep. Lynda Schlegel Culver, Northumberland County District Attorney Tony Rosini, county Commissioners Frank Sawicki, Vinny Clausi and Merle Phillips and Sunbury City Treasurer Beth Kremer.
Curbside recycling in Girardville
GIRARDVILLE - Curbside recycling will take place in the borough of Girardville Tuesday, Aug. 30 and Wednesday, Aug. 31.
Newspapers must be bundled, tied or in brown paper bags. Cardboard must be flattened. Plastic bags will not be accepted.
Clear, brown and green glass, tin and aluminum cans will be accepted, glass in one container and cans in another. No. 1 and No. 2 plastic will be accepted.
Dumpsters for drop-off recycling are on site permanently, but residents are reminded not to leave items outside the gates if they are locked.
