MOUNT CARMEL - The fire that damaged four homes at 9:54 p.m. Friday in the borough was traced to an extension cord and ruled accidental by Milton state fire marshal Trooper Norman Fedder.
Fedder said no one was injured in the fire that originated in 45 N. Market St. and affected several neighboring residences. Fedder said the extension cord supplied power to a television, a DVD player and an air conditioner in a second floor bedroom.
Estimated amount of damage is $75,000. The owner of the building, Steven Conduit, of 324 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, has insurance, but apartment leasee, Gary Lee Reigle, 25, does not.
