Community service program
COAL TOWNSHIP - Participants in Magisterial District Judge John Gembic's community service program will meet at 9 a.m. today at the Coal Bowl, Logan and Tioga streets, Coal Township.
Vacation Bible School
SHAMOKIN - Restoration Ministries Church will host Kingdom Kid Puppet Ministries at 525 Chestnut St. at 10:30 Sunday as part of its vacation Bible school.
Community yard sale in Atlas
ATLAS - The second annual Atlas community yard, craft and bake sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30. Refreshments and food will be served at the fire company. Crafters are wanted. For available space, call Angie at 339-1268.
Churches to hold Bible school
SHAMOKIN - Grace, St. Paul and Trinity Lutheran churches will hold a joint vacation Bible school at Grace Lutheran Church, West Chestnut Street, from Sunday through Thursday, July 29. The school will run from 6 to 8 p.m. each day.
All children of the community are invited to attend. The school is for preschool and elementary children.
This year's theme is "PandaMania: Where God is Wild About You." Kids will explore a bamboo forest filled with crazy pandas, meet Chaddar, the storyteller, sing songs, eat yummy snacks, make great crafts and play fun games.
The Rev. David M. Byerly, pastor of Grace and St. Paul, will be the worship leader for the school. The Rev. David Hauck is pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Pamela Rhoades and Shelley Faust, leaders of the school, invite parents to pre-register their children by calling the church office at 648-7534 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Children may also register Sunday when they attend the first session.
