DANVILLE - At a recent meeting, the Danville Rotary Club named Marc A. Varano Rotarian of the Year. The award was based on Varano's leadership, commitment and work ethic in promoting the goals of Rotary. Serving as the club's public relations chair, Varano was instrumental in organizing special events in the past year and increasing awareness of the club through successful media relations campaigns.
"I was truly excited and honored to receive this award of recognition," stated Varano. "Since joining the Rotary about a year ago, I have truly enjoyed working with such a great group of people and the different agencies and communities we support on a local and international basis."
A graduate of Shikellamy High School, Sunbury, Varano holds an associate degree in communications from Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport and a bachelor's degree in communications from Bloomsburg University. He works as outreach coordinator for the LIFE Geisinger program in Kulpmont. Varano and his wife Karen reside in Danville.
