LEWISBURG - Slifer House Museum, on the campus of RiverWoods, welcomes a Mount Carmel native as one of five Susquehanna University students doing internships during the 2015 spring semester.

Justin Skavery, a sophomore anthropology/history major and Asian studies minor, joins the museum staff under the supervision of Dr. John Bodinger de Uriarte, associate professor of Anthropology. Skavery and the other interns will be overseen at Slifer House Museum by Jessica Owens, museum director.

Work experience will include learning to handle and document museum artifacts, transferring collection records from paper to PastPefect museum software and research and administrative tasks, among others. The internship experience will help students develop and apply professional skills in preparation for positions in history, anthropology, art history and other related fields.

The museum is always searching for volunteers to help with various museum-related tasks. The museum opens April 16 for guided tours Thursdays through Saturdays.
