Charges pending in arson

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - Charges are pending against a Lykens man accused of setting a residence on fire, which injured a female inside.

State police at Lykens arrested Christopher Gessner, 47, of Lykens, following a fire at 269 Park Lane, Washington Township, Dauphin County, at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday. Formal charges have not been filed in the case as of Wednesday afternoon, but are expected to include arson and attempted homicide.

According to police, Gessner was involved in an argument with the victim, a 44-year-old female from Lykens. At one point, Gessner then started a fire inside the residence and he and the female then fled the residence.

The female suffered minor burns in the fire.
